Reclaimed Flooring / Siding

We employ reclaimed or locally harvested wood that has been milled into flooring and siding wherever possible in our green homes. We partner with several local companies that specialize in these areas.

Engineered Wood Products

We utilize engineered wood products in our green homes. These products improve resource efficiency by better utilization of each log that enters the lumber mill. Examples include: Plywood, Oriented Strand Board (OSB), I-Joists, Floor Trusses, Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL’s), and Finger-Jointed Studs.

Recycling

Preish Construction has implemented a comprehensive recycling program for our green homes. Priorities include: centralized cutting area on jobsite, separation of waste into categories (cardboard, wood, plastic, etc.), and reuse of certain products. The benefits are reduced disposal cost, increased material efficiency, decreased impact on landfills, and enhanced image by being good neighbors.

Sustainably Forested Products

Where possible, we try to utilize wood products that have been locally grown and harvested. Alternatively, we search for wood that has been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) as having operations that adopt environmentally and socially responsible practices and to companies that process and sell products made of these woods.

Durability

As a general rule, we strive in all of our green building efforts, to construct homes that excel in durability – that is, they will stand the test of time and live on for generations. The green building techniques and technologies aid us in this effort.
